Skill & Stat Reduction After Taming

When a creature is tamed for the very first time, it does **not** retain its full wild strength. This is intentional and helps balance powerful pets.

General Rule

  • Newly tamed creatures lose a portion of their original skills.
  • The amount lost depends on **how the creature was tamed** and **what type of creature it is**.
  • These reductions only occur on the **first tame**.

---

Standard Taming

  • Most creatures retain **90% of their original skill potential**
  • This means their skills train up to **90% of what they had in the wild**

---

Paralyzed During Taming

  • If the creature was **paralyzed while being tamed**, it retains slightly less
  • Skills are reduced to **86% of their original values**

---

Greater Dragons & Ice Dragons

These creatures receive special handling due to their extreme power.

  • All skills are reduced to **72% of their original values**
  • Skills may only train up to **90%** of their original maximum
  • **Magery** is reduced even further:
    • Magery skill starts at **90%**
    • Magery can only ever train to **90%** of its original cap

---

Stat Loss

Some creatures suffer additional **stat loss** after being tamed.

  • If a creature has post-tame stat loss:
    • Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence are reduced to **75%** of their original values

---

Summary Table

Taming Condition Skill Retained
Normal tame 90%
Paralyzed during tame 86%
Greater Dragon / Ice Dragon 72%

Creature Type Stat Retained
Creatures with stat loss 80%

---

Why This Exists

These reductions ensure:

  • Powerful pets remain valuable but balanced
  • Skill training remains meaningful after taming
  • Wild creatures are stronger than their tamed counterparts
