The Codex System Guide

The Codex is a character-bound progression item that earns XP from PvM, unlocks tiers across multiple playstyle categories, and allows you to spend Codex Points to activate powerful perks.

What is a Codex?

A Codex is a special, newbied item named a magical codex. It is designed as a long-term PvM progression system that rewards you for playing normally while letting you specialize your character.

Key concepts:

  • XP is earned from creature kills.
  • Tiers unlock as your Codex XP increases.
  • Codex Points are awarded when you reach new tiers.
  • Points are spent to unlock tiers and perks in different categories.

Binding (Ownership)

Your Codex becomes permanently bound to you the first time you use it.

  • Double-clicking the Codex for the first time binds it to your character.
  • Once bound, it cannot be used by anyone else.

Where the Codex must be

To function properly, the Codex must be in the base of your backpack.

  • It must NOT be equipped.
  • It must NOT be inside another bag or container.

If your active Codex is moved out of your backpack, it will stop functioning.
